Dr Sofie De Hertog

DERMATOLOGY

Doctor Sofie De Hertog studied medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where she specialized in dermatology. She graduated magna cum laude in 2002.

During her studies, she developed a special interest in the detection of skin cancer. She participated in a large-scale research project at the Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (the Netherlands) concerning the risk factors for skin cancer (both melanoma and epithelioma). An early detection of skin cancer is vital and is a primary goal during consultations.

Her thesis concentrated on psoriasis: possible treatments, efficiency, recrudescence. Patients suffering from this skin condition can be treated with the most recent therapeutic options.

Her practice also includes a high-tech laser platform, fulfilling the more aesthetic needs.

Emphasis is on dermatopathology. Cosmetic needs can be met but are not a priority and are limited (e.g. no fillers).
